31 Follow the Netherlands Economic Mission in Brazil through social media

Next week a full delegation of more than 150 Dutch companies and numerous educational institutes take off for the Netherlands Economic Mission in Brazil. They will be visiting four of the largest cities under guidance of the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation and the State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science. Parallel to the economic mission Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima of the Netherlands will pay an official visit to Brazil. They shall join the mission at several occasions to underline its importance.

32 Ten years of the International Criminal Court: much achieved, much still to do

‘The International Criminal Court plays an essential role in preventing crimes, protecting people and bringing perpetrators to justice. It has achieved a great deal, but there is still much to do.’ Foreign minister Frans Timmermans delivered this message in the Knights’ Hall in The Hague at a ceremony to mark the ICC’s 10th anniversary, which was attended by Her Majesty the Queen and the President of Senegal.

33 Dutch business visit to Brazil

From 19 to 23 November 2012, Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima of the Netherlands will pay an official visit to Brazil, the most important trade and investment partner for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Latin America. They are accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Ms Lilianne Ploumen. The Secretary of State for Education, Culture and Science, Mr. Sander Dekker and Prime Minister of Aruba, Mr. Mike Eman are also part of the delegation. A business delegation composed of representatives of over 175 companies from leading sectors of the Dutch economy visit Brazil parallel to the official visit of the Prince and Princess.

34 New government: open attitude towards Europe and the wider world

The new Dutch government was today (5-11-2012) sworn in by Her Majesty the Queen. The members of the government responsible for foreign policy are Frans Timmermans (Minister of Foreign Affairs) and Lilianne Ploumen (Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation). Mr Timmermans, 51, was Minister for European Affairs from 2007 to 2010. Ms Ploumen, 50, worked for various development organisations before serving as chair of the PvdA (Labour Party).

Durante uma reunião recente da rede econômica, no Recife, o Embaixador do Reino dos Países Baixos no Brasil, Sr. Kees Rade e os Cônsules Gerais do São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro, Srs. Jan-Gijs Schouten e Paul Comenencia, anunciaram o início de um novo grupo no 'LinkedIn' contendo os postos diplomáticos e econômicos neerlandeses no Brasil.

37 Lançamento livro no Instituto Ricardo Brennand

Em 25 de setembro de 2012, o Embaixador do Reino dos Países Baixos, Sr. Kees Rade, visitou o célebre Instituto Ricardo Brennand em Recife, e proferiu um discurso por ocasião do lançamento do livro “Brasil Holandês: História, Memória e Patrimônio Compartilhado”.

39 Budget Memorandum 2013: shockproof public finances and a resilient economy

In the Netherlands, the third Tuesday in September (known as Prince’s Day) is traditionally marked by the State Opening of Parliament. The day’s celebrations begin with a royal procession from Noordeinde Palace to the Ridderzaal (Hall of Knights), where the members of both houses of parliament and other invited guests are assembled. Here, the Queen delivers her Speech from the Throne, the text of which is written by the government. Then the budget for the coming year (the Budget Memorandum) is presented to the House of Representatives by the Minister of Finance.

40 Global summit on nuclear security in The Hague

The Nuclear Security Summit being hosted by the Netherlands in March 2014 will be held in the World Forum in The Hague, Minister of Foreign Affairs Uri Rosenthal announced today. Over 50 heads of state and government and representatives of international organisations are expected to attend the event, which will be chaired by the Dutch Prime Minister.
